The limits
| Year | Before the year you reach full retirement age | In the year you reach full retirement age |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | $24,480 a year ($1 held back for every $2 above) | $65,160 a year ($1 held back for every $3 above, counting pay before that month) |
| 2027 | $25,560 a year ($1 held back for every $2 above) | $67,920 a year ($1 held back for every $3 above, counting pay before that month) |
- From the month you reach full retirement age, there is no limit.
- In your first year of retirement a monthly rule may apply: you can get a full benefit for any month you earn under the monthly limit, whatever your yearly pay.
- SSI and disability benefits have different work rules.
